The vice-president of the Union of Armenian Philatelists, Lyceum Chemistry teacher Jean Gyulbenkyan participated in international philatelic exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
He presented an exhibit on the life and activity of Calouste Gulbenkian, famous Armenian benefactor, oil producer and collector of art works. The exhibit (64 sheets) was displayed in four showcases. It consisted of stamps, postal letters, postcards, bank receipts, and it aroused great interest among the visitors. The presentation of the exhibit was a successful step towards the coverage of the life and activity of Calouste Gulbenkian, who was devoted to his nation.
Mr. Gulbenkyan had the right to take part in the non-competition class, as he was a member of the organizational committee of the exhibition. However, the exhibit was awarded a special medal equivalent to the gold medal. There were 35 exhibits from around the world – the USA, Argentina, Russia and so on.
