For the first time the Anania Shirakatsy Armenian National Lyceum students took part in the traditional Olympiad organized by Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute and came back with fine results. Zaruhi Ghaltakhchyan, the high school principal, ceremonially handed 14 diplomas and 3 honor certificates when the passing week was being summed up. The students tested their knowledge in both humanities and natural sciences. Gagik Torchyan, the Lyceum deputy director, expressed satisfaction and mentioned that the tasks were difficult enough. He said, “We’ve come back with 17 prizes – 14 diplomas and 3 honor certificates. Our student Beluyan Filiana’s result’s very high. She’s come back with 2 first grade diplomas in French and History. Mkhoyan Gayane received 20 points out of 20 possible points in History, which is a unique result”. Mr. Torchyan also mentioned that such Olympiads prepare students for the Republican Olympiad – the main one.
