Admissions at Shirakatsy Lyceum

Shirakatsy Lyceum offers competitive admission for preschool children, gifted students from public schools, and children from the Diaspora and abroad. We provide a high-quality, comprehensive education that meets the highest state and international standards of the Republic of Armenia. Since our founding, we have utilized an acclaimed educational program developed by Ashot Alikhanyan. Additionally, since 2013, we have incorporated the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational programs.

    Children who turn 6 years old by December 31 of the given year can be admitted to the first grade. Applications for admission are accepted from March 10-24 of each year, inclusive.

     

    Admission applications and downloading of necessary documents are made through the online application registration system; A one-time payment of 15,000 AMD (exam fee) is required to submit an admission application and participate in the process, which must be transferred to the Amio Bank account number 1150003768028007 (beneficiary: Shirakatsy Lyceum, purpose: exam fee, child's first name, last name). This payment is non-refundable. Children of both parents, deceased freedom fighters, children of large families (with 5 or more children), and students of the senior group of the Lyceum's kindergarten are exempt from the exam fee.

     

    Admission is made taking into account the results of the psychological readiness survey for school of the applicant children, which is carried out from the day after the application is accepted until May 20.

     

    A sufficient condition for admission of children to the senior group of kindergarten is overcoming the minimum threshold of the psychological readiness test for school. The condition for admission of other applicants is the maximum points in the results of the examination.

     

    The number of first-grade students is first filled with children from the senior group of the kindergarten, after which 60% of the remaining vacant places are allocated to children who have a sibling studying at the Lyceum and/or to children of the Lyceum employees, based on their results (for the purpose of implementing the priority of Article 16, Part 1.1, Point 1 of the RA Law on General Education), and 40% are allocated to children from new applicant families, based on their results.

     

    An open house is being organized to introduce the Primary School, and additional information about it is being posted in the announcements section and on official social media platforms.

     

    Current admission for grades 2 to 4 of primary school is organized in case of vacant places, based on the application of the parent and the results of the test assessing the knowledge of the native language, mathematics, Russian, foreign language, and the general level of intellectual development. There is a waiting list for admission for these grades. In case of vacant places, children are invited to study according to the order of the waiting list. A sufficient condition for admission is overcoming the minimum threshold.

  • Admission to Middle schools (grades 5 to 10) is organized on a competitive basis for paid and state co-funded places, subject to availability of vacant places. Admission to state co-funded places is organized in June, for September of each academic year, for grades 8 and 10. Admission to paid places is carried out on a competitive basis, for the first or second semester, in June or December-January, subject to availability of vacant places.

     

    Applications for admission are accepted in May, and exams are held in June. Applications for the ongoing admission, organized at the end of the first semester, are accepted in December, and exams are held in December-January. The admission announcement and deadlines for each academic year are published in the announcements section and on official social platforms.

    The competition is held among students who have passed all exams with positive grades, based on the sum of the points received from the competitive exams. In case of equal scores, preference is given as follows:

     

    in the order presented:
    a) applicants who received the highest total points from non-competitive exams,
    b) students of the Sunday Preparatory School of the Lyceum,
    c) students who have completed the corresponding grade of the Lyceum's middle/high school.

     

    Applicants who are excluded from the competition for co-funded places with the same grades may participate in the competition for paid places in the corresponding grade, if there are vacant places.

     

    Citizens of the Republic of Armenia and dual citizens have the right to participate in the competition for co-funded places, in accordance with the procedure for filling places (with co-financing) and without state subsidy (paid) as defined in the state subsidy agreement of February 21, 2024.

     

    Admission of students from foreign countries to all grades is organized year-round, subject to the availability of vacant places and appropriate resources at the Lyceum, in accordance with the relevant procedure.

  • Admission to the High School Diploma Programme (11th grade) is competitive, based on entrance exams and interviews, as well as motivation and recommendation letters. Applicants take written exams in English and Mathematics (the exam paper is available in Armenian or English) and participate in an interview (organized within the framework of the subjects they will study at the IBDP).

     

    Applicants who successfully pass the exams must submit all required documents and meet the minimum passing threshold based on comparative analysis set by the Shirakatsy Lyceum Admissions Committee, as well as demonstrate high performance during the interview. Motivational and recommendation letters are also taken into account.

     

    Applicants who successfully meet the admission requirements receive an offer of admission, which may be withdrawn by the College in cases specified in the admissions policy.

     

    Admission is conducted in two stages: in April and in June, subject to availability of places. Applications for admission are accepted in March for participation in the April stage, and in June for participation in the June stage. Students who are planning to study in the IBDP programme in conjunction with the RA national curriculum can participate only in the April stage. The IBDP program is offered to RA citizens only in conjunction with the RA national curriculum (Shirakatsy Lyceum’s National Program).   • High School National Program

    Admission to the author's educational program is available only for paid placements.

  • High School Diploma Programme

    Education within the Diploma Programme is conducted in English. Graduates of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme have the opportunity to obtain both the IB diploma and an RA state certificate.

    Applications for admission to the Diploma Programme are accepted in March, and examinations are held in April. If there are vacancies, the second round of the exam takes place, which is organized in August. RA citizens can participate in the reception only in the April round. Applicants pass entrance exams in mathematics and English subjects, participate in subject interviews, and also prepare motivational and guarantee letters.

  • Middle School

    Admission to the Middle School is organized through a competitive process, with availability based on both paid and state co-financed placements. The primary intake occurs during May-June, while additional intake opportunities are available in December.

  • Primary School

    Children are admitted to the 1st grade of the Junior School based on parental application and the results of testing, including assessment of psychological readiness for school and IQ. Admission to the 2nd-4th grades depends on vacancy availability and is determined by parental application along with testing in four subjects: Armenian language, mathematics, a foreign language, and Russian, assessing knowledge and abilities.

  • Kindergarten

    Admission to the kindergarten is carried out year-round, in case of the availability of free places.
