Our History

The Armenian nation has created several lyceums throughout its history. Already in the 11th century, Gregory the Magister established educational institutions in Ani, Bjni and Sanahin, which he called lyceums. Later, those educational centers, which, based on the traditions of Armenian education, represented a new level of quality, began to be called lyceums.

In all periods of our nation's history, such educational centers have served the best in the formation and creation of Armenian intellectuals.  Among them were Lazarian Lyceum in Moscow, Gevorgian Lyceum in Etchmiadzin, Melkonian Lyceum  in Cyprus and Murad-Rafaelian Lyceum in Venice. The Nersisian School of Tbilisi was also a Lyceum by nature.

Inspired by this rich history, Shirakatsy Lyceum was established to discover the talents of gifted students and provide them high-quality education. Below are some highlights from Shirakatsy Lyceum's history that reflect its continued commitment to providing high-quality education.
