Admissions at Shirakatsy Lyceum

Shirakatsy Lyceum offers competitive admission for preschool children, gifted students from public schools, and children from the Diaspora and abroad. We provide a high-quality, comprehensive education that meets the highest state and international standards of the Republic of Armenia. Since our founding, we have utilized an acclaimed educational program developed by Ashot Alikhanyan. Additionally, since 2013, we have incorporated the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational programs.

Admissions at Shirakatsy Lyceum include:

  • Admission to the Kindergarten is conducted throughout the year, in case of the availability of vacant positions. For inquiries regarding admission, please contact the director of the Primary School, Gayane Grigoryan, phone number 093 929201.

  • Children are admitted to the first grade of the Primary school based on the parent's application and the results of the psychological preparation for school. An open-door day is organized to get to know the Primary school, additional information about which is posted in the announcements section.

     

    Children who reach 6 years of age by December 31 of the current year are eligible to apply for admission to the first class.

     

    Achieving the minimum threshold on the psychological readiness test for school is a sufficient requirement for admitting children to the senior group of the kindergarten. For other applicants, admission is based on the maximum points obtained in the examination.

     

    Applications for admission to the first class are accepted every year from March 10-24 inclusive, after which the other stages are organized, the admission decision is made by May 20, depending on the number of applicants.

     

    The number of first-grade students is filled first from the children of the senior group of the kindergarten, after which 60% of the remaining vacant places are allocated to children who have a sibling studying at the Lyceum and/or the children of Lyceum employees, according to the results (Article 16, Part 1.1 of the RA Law on Public Education point), and 40% is allocated to the children of new applicant families according to the results.

     

    To submit an admission application and participate in the process, there is a fee of 9,600 AMD, which must be transferred to Amio Bank account number 1150003768028007, beneficiary: Shirakatsy Lyceum, purpose: admission fee child's name and surname. This fee is non-refundable or non-refundable.

     

    Admission to the 2nd-4th grades of the Primary school is organized if there are vacancies, based on the parent's application and the results of the knowledge and ability check in 4 subjects (Armenian language, mathematics, foreign language, Russian), as well as a test assessing the level of general intellectual development, with in which overcoming the minimum threshold is sufficient. There is a waiting list for admission, children are invited to study according to the order of the waiting list.

  • Admission to middle school (grades 5 to 10) is organized on a competitive basis, with paid and state co-financed places, subject to availability of vacancies. The main admission is carried out in May-June. If there are free places, admission can be held in December as well.

     

    Students from abroad are accepted in all classes during the whole year if there are vacancies.
    Admission to places with state co-financing is carried out in the 8th (30 places) and 10th (5 places) classes.

     

    In order to be admitted to both state co-financed and paid places, applicants pass written exams in 4-8 subjects, according to grades. The competition is held among students who have passed all exams with positive grades, based on the sum of the points obtained from the competitive exams, in case of equal competitive points, an advantage is given to
    a) the applicants who obtained the maximum total points from the
    c) to students who have completed the relevant grade of the middnon-competitive examinations,
    b) the students of the Preparatory Sunday School of the Lyceum,le/high school of the Lyceum.

     

    In order to participate in the admission process, you need to submit an admission application.     Admission to the Lyceum for the 2024-2025 academic year is carried out in the 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades of Middle school.
    In the 10th grade, education is organized in four streams (humanities, natural sciences, economics, physics).

     

    Attention: 2024 As of May 2, the available vacancies according to classes are as follows: 5th grade: 25 places, 8th grade: 30 places, 9th grade: 4 places, 10th grade: 7 places.

     

    Admission applications and documents are accepted from May 2 to May 31, inclusive, through the online application registration system.

    The admission exams are scheduled from June 10 to 28.

     

  • Admission to the National Program in high school (11th and 12th grades) operates on a competitive basis, with paid placements subject to availability. The primary admission process occurs in May-June. If vacancies remain available, admission may also occur in December.

     

    Students from abroad are admitted into all classes throughout the year, if there are vacancies.

  • Admission to the High School Diploma Programme (Grade 11) is conducted in two stages: in April and June of each academic year.
    Citizens of Armenia or non-citizen students attending Armenian schools who intend to combine their studies with the Academic Program of the High School can participate in the June round only if there are vacancies. Non-citizen applicants from abroad can take part in the exams, which will be organized either in April or June.

     

    To gain admission, applicants must complete an application form and attach motivational and guarantee letters. They also need to pass written exams in English and mathematics (available in Armenian or English) and attend an interview.
    Applicants who successfully meet the admission requirements receive an offer of admission, which may be withdrawn by the Lyceum in cases outlined in the Admission Policy.

    Please consider that RA citizens are offered IB DP only in conjunction with the National Program and two fees.

  • High School National Program

    Admission to the author's educational program is available only for paid placements.

  • High School Diploma Programme

    Education within the Diploma Programme is conducted in English. Graduates of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme have the opportunity to obtain both the IB diploma and an RA state certificate.

    Applications for admission to the Diploma Programme are accepted in March, and examinations are held in April. If there are vacancies, the second round of the exam takes place, which is organized in August. RA citizens can participate in the reception only in the April round. Applicants pass entrance exams in mathematics and English subjects, participate in subject interviews, and also prepare motivational and guarantee letters.

  • Middle School

    Admission to the Middle School is organized through a competitive process, with availability based on both paid and state co-financed placements. The primary intake occurs during May-June, while additional intake opportunities are available in December.

  • Primary School

    Children are admitted to the 1st grade of the Junior School based on parental application and the results of testing, including assessment of psychological readiness for school and IQ. Admission to the 2nd-4th grades depends on vacancy availability and is determined by parental application along with testing in four subjects: Armenian language, mathematics, a foreign language, and Russian, assessing knowledge and abilities.

  • Kindergarten

    Admission to the kindergarten is carried out year-round, in case of the availability of free places.
