  • January

    • The International Baccalaureate Office summarizes the results of the assessment visit to the Lyceum. An evaluation visit conducted every 5 years provides an opportunity to observe the Lyceum as a whole and the implementation of programs for each structure separately. During the visit, the group of MB visitors singles out several conditions as the main advantages;
    1. Mission and philosophy of education
    2. Compliance with MB requirements, which are included in the strategy developed for the ongoing sustainability of the programs and are demonstrated by the activities of the Lyceum.
    3. Open communication within and between all programs and in the community, supporting critical thinking for the benefit of learning, the development of a deep understanding of the individual needs of students and the interconnectedness of programs.
    4. Lyceum efforts to incorporate 2020 standards and practices into action plans.

    • Every year, CNN implements #MyFreedomDay, a campaign that unites students from different parts of the world around a single idea - freedom, with the aim of raising awareness about modern slavery and human trafficking. Shirakatsy Lyceum Diploma Program students discuss perceptions of the idea of freedom with Primary Lyceum students, #MyFreedomDay is interwoven with the fight against bullying in middle school, and in high school, a specially invited guest expert presents the dangers and prevention mechanisms of trafficking as modern slavery.
    • Deputy Director of International Affairs Tatevik Nalbandyan and Rogha Jeladyan participate in the SRT online conference for international education experts, the purpose of which is to provide an opportunity to exchange information and create connections between representatives of universities and schools.

    • The presentation of extensive essays and CAS extracurricular programs of students of the 2nd year of the Diploma program takes place in the Lyceum Library. During the event, the students present their scientific papers written as a result of two-year studies in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, the challenges they face and the effective ways to overcome them, as well as their extracurricular experience in the framework of Creativity, Activity and Community Service, and the options to implement their ideas in the best possible way.
    • During the 20th conference of the Union of Leading Technologies Enterprises (#UATE), Shirakatsy Lyceum becomes a full member of the big family of UATE, and the director of the educational complex, Ashot Alikhanyan, is elected as auditor by the vote of the assembly.
    • As part of the "Earth Day" events, a seminar-discussion is being held with the 5th-6th grade students on the topic of "My Carbon Footprint" on the initiative of the chair of social sciences (head: Armine Narimanyan), which is conducted by geography teacher Ani Hovhannisyan.

    • Lyceum students Ellen and Anna are chosen as the best speaker-participants at the international conference organized for Round Square schools of Chadwick International School in South Korea. High school students present their work on LEADERS FOR FUTURE, highlighting what kind of leaders students can be, especially under the conditions of Covid 19. 200 representatives of 30 schools from 15 countries participated in the conference.
    • Students of the Diploma Program of the Lyceum participate in the Flower Collection in Tsitsernakaberd. On April 24, the flowers placed in the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex are collected every year, their stems are separated from the petals. the first is made into compost, and the petals are used to make paper.
    • 9th grade students present community project work. The community project reveals the potential of students by learning to create and do good.
    • Middle school students meet with Kuwait National School students on "Traces of Identity and Self-Knowledge".     • "Thrive Armenia" Foundation organizes an amateur tennis charity tournament in the Tennis Club of Shirakatsy Lyceum, from which all the proceeds are provided as scholarships to students from Artsakh.

      As a full member of the World Association of Round Square Schools, Shirakatsy Lyceum is honored to award its students with the "King Constantine II" medal. This year Hasmik Tadevosyan, a middle school student of the Lyceum, will receive an honorary medal.
    • By order of the Minister of Education and Culture, the module of the Shirakatsy Lyceum’s mandatory certified teacher training course is approved, and the Lyceum becomes a training organization for 3 years.
    • Captain Hrant Aghabekyan, commander of the academy, a participant in the three Artsakh wars, "for his significant contribution to the defense of the Motherland and personal bravery, is awarded the order of the "Combat Cross" 2nd degree".

    • 5 students of Lyceum’s High School (Tigran Ter-Matevosyan, Lyudmila Petrosyan, Hamlet Karayan, Yuri Babinyan, Sargis Boyakhchian) participate in the essay competition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia, which was initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Kuwait.     • As part of the Independence Day activities, high school students and a group of teachers decide to understand and overcome the difficulties of building an independent homeland together by conquering the height of Mount Armaghan.
    • The students of the 2nd geography group of the Diploma Program carry out field research work. The goal was to study the positive and negative impact of tourism on the environment and the socio-economic situation of the community of Tsaghkadzor city, developing students' research, communication and collaborative skills.
    • The Lyceum delegation represented by Director Ashot Alikhanyan, RS representative Ilona Hovasapyan and 6 students: Hayk Ter-Matevosyan (1116 group), Sona Hakhverdyan (DP2 group), Elen Khachikyan (DP2 group), Maria Grigoryan (1115 group), Anahit Galstyan ( DP1 group), Eva Adumyan (DP1 group), participate in the online "Round Square-2021" international conference (RSIC-2021).     • According to the principles of awarding the Order of "King Constantine II" of the World Association of "Round Square International Schools" and the Board of Directors on 27.05.2021. decision to award the medal in the 2020-2021 school year to Elen Tadevosyan (group 654) of the seminary middle school, for showing exceptional involvement and dedication in matters of leadership, social activism and service to the public in collecting plastic corks and providing wheelchairs.
    • Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan visits the Lyceum, meets with high school students, answers questions, inspires and cheers, saying: "Remember, nothing is impossible." The Director of the educational complex, Ashot Alikhanyan, awards Artak Beglaryan with the "For Impeccable Services" medal of the Shirakatsy Lyceum.     • Lyceum’s High school students; Adilkhanyan Kama, Petrosyan Boris, Sheroyan Magdalena, Muradyan Ameli, Grigoryan Syuzanna participate in the contest-game of the Moscow School of Economics and take second place.
    • The training course for teachers subject to mandatory certification of public schools is starting at the Lyceum. The best specialists of the Lyceum, who are also experienced in adult education, are included in the training process.
  • October
    • With the cooperation of the Lyceum library and the middle school pedagogical service, the 5th graders participate in the bookmark exchange initiative of the International Association of School Librarianship. The initiative entitled "Fairy Tales and National Tales" is implemented within the framework of the International Month of School Libraries, giving each student the opportunity to exchange a bookmark he/she made with a student from the same year abroad.     • A rapid chess tournament dedicated to the teachers' professional holiday is held in the Lyceum, in which staff representatives participated.     • The Lyceum delegation (high school students Lilit Topuzyan (group 1025), Neha Mathew (DP2) and Deputy-Director of international affairs Tatevik Nalbandian) participates in the online RS Postcard from Genesis Global School meeting organized by "Zoom around" the World with Round Square" frame.
    • Since 2004, October 7 is celebrated as Librarian's Day in Armenia. The republican competition under the title "Best Library" is summarized, and the library of Shirakatsy Lyceum is recognized as the winner in the "Special Prize" category (librarian: Ruzanna Yeghikyan, coordinator of research works: Ani Mkrtumyan).
    • As part of the Independence Day activities, a running marathon under the title "Independence is us" is held for students of 5th and 6th grades. Symbolic awards were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place students in the "most balanced", "most honest" and "most courageous" categories.

    • The Primary School's traditional running marathon is accompanied by 3rd graders exploring healthy lifestyles and the importance of physical activity. In addition to the race, the 3rd graders participate in the tug-of-war competition with their parents. Parents of sprint winners receive certificates.
    • The Lyceum delegation (Middle school students Suren Sahakyan (group 753), Hakob Alakhverdyan (group 754), Ani Saghatelyan (group 664), Samvel Karapetyan (group 664), Mary Petrosyan (group 663), Lina Sargsyan (group 663) and art of the Lyceum department head Yulyanna Mkrtchyan) participates in the online RS Postcard from Dhirubhai Ambani International School meeting organized by the students of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in India as part of the "Zoom around the World with Round Square" initiative.
    • The annual conference for Primary School teachers of the Association of International Baccalaureate Schools of the CIS countries is organized and held by the Shirakatsy Lyceum.
    • During the autumn holidays, the student parliament works in the hall of the Lyceum and discusses other issues that require an urgent solution.
    • On the road from Yerevan to Aparan, in the vicinity of the Park of Letters and the Holy Cross, the "Eternal Garden" was built in honor of science, culture, sports, as well as Armenians who gave their lives to their homeland during the wars. Director of Shirakatsy Lyceum Ashot Alikhanyan, Deputy Director Tatevik Arzumanyan, author of the book "Anania Shirakatsy" Lilit Nazaryan and Venger Ghazaryan, recipient of Shirakatsy's scholarship, participate in the tree planting ceremony held in "Eternal Park" and plant the tree named after Anania Shirakatsy.

    • The government of Artsakh applies to the Shirakatsy Lyceum to open a Shirakatsy Lyceum in the capital Stepanakert. By the decision of the Lyceum Directorate, the Shirakatsy Lyceum will operate from September next year with a unique educational program and completely free of charge.

    • In the Primary school, a chess tournament of the fourth order is held (referees Nelly Pilosyan and Gevorg Muradyan).
    • The meeting of the board of the Union of Leading Technologies Enterprises (#ATZM), of which Shirakatsy Lyceum is a full member, is held at the Lyceum at the invitation of Director Ashot Alikhanyan.
    • In front of the entrance to the second building of the Lyceum, a memorial fountain is opened, dedicated to the Lyceum students who died in the Artsakh war: Aren Mehrabyan, Levon Khurshudyan, Edgar Tashchyan, Tigran Shashikyan. The author of the idea to install a fountain-monument is the 12th grade student Inga Ghahramanyan. At the same time, the relatives of the heroic boys planted two oak trees in front of the spring, which will be watered with the water of the monument spring.
    • Artak Arzumanyan is the first officially admitted student in Shirakatsy Lyceum in 1990. We learn this from his letter written to the General Director of the Lyceum, Ashot Alikhanyan . "Since I had to leave Armenia, and the first two exams took longer than planned, I asked that the last exam (interview) be held with me before my departure, which Mr. Alikhanyan agreed to. The interview took place in his private room, which was also attended by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Yuri Sargsyan (if you remember, at that time, the Lyceum was called a college attached to the Polytechnic). In the end, I, as the first officially admitted student, received a notebook and a box of pens from Ashot Alikhanyan, which I keep until now."
    • The team of SOLARA specialists is carrying out the reconstruction of the roofs of the Lyceum buildings, on which the 160 kW solar plants are assembled.

    • The Lyceum delegation (Middle school students Suren Sahakyan, Hakob Alakhverdyan, Elina Torosyan, Lina Sargsyan, Toros Megeryan, middle school psychologist Shushanna Hasasyan) participates in the online RS Postcard organized by the students of the Aubrick Multicultural lingual school in Brazil as part of the "Zoom around the World with Round Square" initiative from Aubrick Multicultural Bilingual  School meeting. The topic: "How do we cope, if we don't love ourselves? Talking about SELF CARE".
    • The opening of the innovative education center named after Karen Vardanyan is taking place on the third floor of the high school. The sponsor is Tigran Khudaverdyan, director of YANDEX association, student of the Lyceum. The center includes a wide range of opportunities and tools for organizing learning with the STEAM educational approach, setting an even higher bar for the implementation of existing and upcoming projects.
